Tasmanian TAFE students will soon be using a globally leading Australian software solution to guide them through their courses, after TasTAFE partnered with home-grown student management system provider, TechnologyOne.

TasTAFE Interim CEO, Will McShane said the new digital implementation places learners at the centre.

“Investing in this solution will streamline operations across TasTAFE, making day-to-day tasks simpler for our learners and staff,” Mr McShane said. “This will, in turn, free up capacity for us to focus on what matters most: delivering quality education and creating real pathways to jobs.”

The student management system will be seamlessly integrated with the TechologyOne core business management systems, streamlining TasTAFE’s administration processes and improving its service delivery.

David Cope, TechnologyOne’s Executive Vice President for Education, said the announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the sector.

The Federal Government funded over 500,000 Fee-Free TAFE places in the past three years, and last year announced a permanent 100,000 Fee-Free places from 2027, contributing to a rapid growth in student numbers and placing new demands on TAFEs’ business and student management systems, he said.

Mr Cope said TechnologyOne’s unmatched footprint across 65 percent of Australian TAFEs, combined with its huge commitment to R&D in Australia, meant TasTAFE would benefit from a direct influence on the future product development roadmap.

As part of its commitment to TasTAFE, TechnologyOne will provide five learners with two-week vocational placements at its Brisbane headquarters each year. These placements offer hands-on industry experience working alongside TechnologyOne’s cyber team, R&D engineers, and support consultants.

“The opportunity to engage in work placements provides our learners with valuable real-world experience and offers tangible employment pathways,” Mr McShane said.

The new Student Management solution will integrate core business systems into a single platform, streamlining administrative processes, improving service delivery, and enhancing the overall student experience.

Mr McShane added, “This solution supports all stages of the learner journey, empowering students with greater control and visibility over their academic experience through the one platform.”

TechnologyOne fully supports the Tasmanian Government’s ‘Buy Local’ policy and is undertaking initiatives to create a positive impact on the Tasmanian economy and wider community.

65% of Australian TAFE Institutes use one or more of TechnologyOne’s OneEducation ERP software products making TechnologyOne the preferred software vendor to Australian TAFEs.
